If you have the tools and skills to weld, grind, and drill, this clutch pedal rebuild kit is a great way to save some money. If you'd prefer to purchase an already-rebuilt clutch pedal assembly, you can do so in the Related Products section below!

Vanagon clutch pedals tend to wear out, plain and simple. Over time, the round hole that pushes on the clutch master cylinder rod clevis pin becomes oblong and the clevis pin wears out, which leads to excessive free-play in the clutch pedal. This rebuild kit addresses this design flaw in the original clutch pedal assembly in two ways: It increases the bearing area and adds a self-lubricating bushing to the spot where the pedal is prone to wear out and eventually break.

On other sites, you will find the clevis pin and cotter pin sold by themselves (or sometimes as a kit to also include the clevis itself). We don't offer these parts in that way because it just doesn't make sense. This is because 1) the clevis rarely (if ever) wears out, because it has two bearing surfaces instead of just one on the clutch pedal and clevis pin contact point, and 2) if your clevis pin is worn out, that means your clutch pedal is also worn out and could be about to break. You can choose to only use the clevis pin and cotter pin from this kit, but be warned—sudden failure is imminent! Do it once and do it right!

Included in the kit are a drill template, a new clevis pin, a new cotter pin, and a clevis pin bushing.

Note: Installation will require welding, grinding, and drilling—and may require a vice. You can purchase a rebuilt clutch pedal assembly in the Related Products section below.
