Hey, Lucas!
Every now and then it must be expressed that WE LOVE OUR VAN!!!
We camped out in a friend's driveway in Los Osos last night. I
know...not much of an adventure, but Victoria has Hula class on Tuesday
nights in Los Osos till late and then has to show up at work early the
next morning. Why drive back and forth from Cambria to Los Osos inside
of ten hours when you have a Westy!

Hope you're well,
Mecki

Why buy from GoWesty? And get the warranty!!!

We've had this van just over 9 months now and love it. I mean this is the coolest vehicle we've ever owned, and I used to own a cherry '68 Mercury Cyclone convertible! The Vanagon turns on a dime and turns heads as well. The camper version is the way to go if you ask me. Besides being great to camp in with a fantastic layout of interior equipment and comfortable beds, it's also great to take to a party and just sleep in the driveway of your party host if it gets too late to drive home and their spare rooms are already filled up. We've done this several times already and thought, "How convenient is this!?" Plus, it pays to have the Propex heater installed. No running the engine to warm up the cab, just press a button and set the thermostat and it comes on when needed automatically, all night long.

Now about GoWesty. Never have I had a better experience with purchase and service than these guys. The buying of course is entirely up to the customer and GoWesty need not apply any pressure. The vehicles do that themselves just sitting on their lot. I was there recently drooling over some new vans they have, even though I don't need another. It's just that they do such a great job of making sure their vans are in excellent shape and look better than I'm sure they ever have and this I can appreciate just in looking. Plus driving my own.

For the service GoWesty is tops! Ours was built for someone else by GoWesty who had to sell it less than year later and we bought it from GoWesty. After some miles and a long trip we had an engine problem in Arizona. We had great support from Lucas via email and phone calls while on the road. He was able to diagnose the problem just from our description of symptoms and determined we were safe to continue on our trip. They even drop-shipped us a part to a campground in New Mexico just in case we needed it. We didn't and brought the part back when we returned, no problem. They assessed the problem to be cylinder related and we were glad to have the warranty. Now, here comes the teaser: Lucas offered, instead of a complete warranty repair, a new 2.5L engine for a price too low to refuse and now we know our new engine had its first mile with us and every break-in mile since then. A nice feeling, let me tell you. And boy, does the 2.5L perform great. Strong, smooth, with great suspension and a comfortable ride. Plus, no parking spot is too challenging for the tight turning Vanagon, and the Engel fridge/freezer keeps your cold groceries cold and ice cream from melting. Yes, this is a daily driver and I can't think of what else I'd rather drive.

For vans? GoWesty!
For parts? GoWesty!
For service? GoWesty!
We have been totally thrilled with our van and our GoWesty experience!

PJ put 15,696 miles on it in only 9 months. He loves this thing, and has had a BALL with it. But, he ran into some financial trouble and was forced to sell his baby. He's gotta sell his boat too, bummer....

So, it's back. We have done the following:

Minor Service
Super thorough detail inside and out
New tires all around
New GoWesty upper ball joint spacers
Fresh 4-wheel alignment
Auxiliary battery system upgraded from 1 to3 batteries

The price listed includes the cost to do our work, $32,000 for PJ, and 10% for GoWesty. It is a fair deal all around.

This Westy would cost over $60k to build from scratch today.

So, yea, this is a good deal... Don't rub it in--PJ is already hurt'n....

NOTE: When we originally built this vehicle for PJ, it included a GoWesty rear carriere with full size spare, water and fuel cans, roof racks, and floor mats as pictured in the original add. THOSE ARE NOT INCLUDED. The ROOF RACK BRACKETS, and Awning ARE INCLUDED--as is everything else pictured.

Mecki and Victoria, a local couple, snapped this guy right up. Nice buy you two! Now , we gotta get busy and get this guy ready...

Got 'er done, and delivered! Mecki writes:

Anyone considering buying a Westy from GoWesty need not hesitate. We've
had ours for just under four months and absolutely love it, and missed
it while some service was being done. We brought it in w/out an
appointment and were told it might be a couple weeks. Well, 1 week later
she was done, and with some extra stuff done without us asking or being
charged. Lucas didn't feel right about the brakes up front and decided
to replace them. This is the kind of service all others could learn from
and will get the customers running back.
We also had the more reliable Hot Wire accelerator system installed in
place of the mechanical wiper. Immediately we noticed better throttle
response.
Thanks, Lucas. We're fortunate to have bought from you and live close by.

We're diggin' it, Lucas. Left GoWesty, got some grub, drove to Montana De Oro and had us a picnic. Drove into SLO for and app. and drove home in the dark. Great headlights and brights! ...

Next day...

Very cool!

What we've longed for, read and dreamed about, educated ourselves on is now happening. This morning I looked out to the window and said to Victoria with glee, "Hey, there's a Westy in our driveway!" Thanks, Lucas.

Later on we parked along HWY 1, picnic, beautiful view, and a nap on a very comfortable bed!! A great afternoon. I'll be taking her to LA tomorrow. Log on a few FWY miles.

From Central Coast to LA: 2.5 liter, four on the floor, great acceleration, awesome suspension. If you see me in your rear view, just keep going, I'll go around! In other words, GREAT performance!

Mecki & Victoria,
I was so happy to hear that "Goldie" went to a happy home. That Westy was my total perfect van. Sadly because of life's circumstances I had to sell her. She really is perfect! Anyway, I'm having GoWesty build me another one, far more humble, never the less a Westy....
I know you will have many years of enjoyment. I'm so happy for you! I wish you all the best and wish you continued great Karma with Goldie
Peace, great surf, and Happy Trails,
PJ

PJ!!
So sorry you had to let her go but rest assured she is in loving, caring
and joyful hands. Each day we drive her we realize we made a very good
choice. You built a great van that will see many years, many miles, and
we're already the envy of others.
In Lucas' emails he referred to her as Goldy so the name has stuck. Hope
you don't mind the honor.

Subject: Ten days!

Hi, Lucas,
I took Goldy to Burning Man. 530 miles of travel, fully loaded and now that the new engine has hit 10,000 miles (low oil consumption), I noticed a slight increase in mileage. I was parked for ten days, never started the engine. The fridge was cooling my food round the clock, using lights and water pump, the Propex heater at night and the auxiliary battery system never failed me. During the day I made sure to clean the Playa dust from the solar panel and aim it at the sun, always making sure I had a green battery light. The set-up is excellent! At the end, she fired right up and back home I went. Flawless performance!!! And even very dusty she gets a second look. I'm so pleased!

Hope you're well,
Mecki
